Pendik is one of the oldest residential districts in Istanbul, located at the southwest side of the Kocaeli peninsula in Asia and surrounded by the Sea of Marmara from the south, between Kartal and Tuzla districts. Today Pendik is a crowded mix of working class housing, especially around highway E5, and more expensive apartments with sea views along the coast. There is a busy shopping district with stores, restaurants and movie theaters. Pendik is near Sabiha Gokcen airport – only 10 km away or around 20 min southwest from the airport via Ankara and Cetin streets. Ataturk international airport is 75 km from Pendik along Ataturk boulevard, O-3 and O-1, continuing onto D-100 Yanyolu to the center of the district. It is more than1 hour and 45 minutes ride by a private taxi. Motoroads offers private transfers from Istanbul Ataturk /Sabiha Gokcen airport to Pendik for 1-50 passengers.
