The district of Maltepe is located in the suburbs of Istanbul, between Kadıköy and Kartal on the coast of Marmara sea. Its neighbours are Kadıköy to the west and Kartal to the east. Maltepe commands excellent views towards the sea and the Princes′ Islands. Maltepe is home to some excellent bakeries and restaurants as well as to one of the largest mosques in Istanbul, recently built and impressive with its tall high dome. Ataturk airport is 60 km away or more than hour and a half on the European side of the city along Ataturk boulevard, highway E80 and O-1, D-100, Büyükbakkalköy Yolu and Hilal Sk. Sabiha Gokcen airport is 30 km from Maltepe or about one hour via Ankara street, D-100, Büyükbakkalköy Yolu and Hilal Sk.
