Nis is a modern metropolis with near 300 000 population at a distance of 230km from Belgrade (connected via highway) and 165km from Sofia, Bulgaria. Nis is an important transport center being a stop for travellers from Central Europe to Greece and Turkey. The fortress in the center of Nis built by the Turks in the beginning of 19th century together with numerous museums and art galleries are worth to visit.
