PAZARDJIK - Bulgaria » The town of Pazardjik is situated on the banks of Maritsa river in the Upper Thracian Lowland. It is 36 km west of Plovdiv, 114 km southeast of Sofia, 43 km south of Panagyurishte and 20 km north of Peshtera. The main attractions in the town are the historical museum, the ethnographic museum, the Holy Virgin Church with unique wood-carved iconostasis made by artists of the Debar school, Stanislav Dospevski's house-museum and art gallery, St Petka Church, St Archangel Church, St Sotir Church.
