Rousse is not only the fifth-biggest Bulgarian city, but also the largest river port in the country and the biggest city on Danube river. Located 330 km from Bulgarian capital Sofia, 200 km from Varna on the Black Sea coast, and 85 km from Romanian capital Bucharest, Rousse is the main road and railway hub in the northern part of the country.
