Nessebar is sited on a rocky peninsula on the Black Sea coast, 30 km north of Bourgas international airport, 100 km south of Varna international airport, and 470 km from the capital Sofia and its airport. Split into old quarter and new town‚ the pretty-as-a-postcard Nessebar is believed to be the jewel in the Bulgarian Black Sea crown. Apart from being a popular seaside destination, Nessebar impresses with its rich history – it is famous for its cultural and archaeological heritage seen on its narrow cobbled streets housing the remains of 40 churches from different historic periods. In fact, the magnificent old town of Nesebar is designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. As tourist-orientated as it is beautiful, Nessebar has a great variety of hotels, bars, restaurants and souvenir shops and with Sunny Beach just across the bay, you have every conceivable water sport on hand, too. The resort is excellently connected to destinations both up and down the coast by taxis and public transport. The transfer time from Nessebar to Bourgas airport is a bit more than half an hour. To transfer you from Varna airport to Nessebar it takes one hour and a half, while from Sofia the transfer takes 6 hours mainly along one of Bulgaria’s main motorways.
