With an order by the Minister of Environment - Dzhevdet Chakarov the Persenk area is declared a protected zone.
This is the fifth protected zone in the region, radio Plovdiv announces.
The area is situated on the territory of Plovdiv and Smolyan municipality on an area of 162 thousand decares and the villages Sitovo and Lilkovo are situated in it.
The purpose of the inclusion of the zone in the eco network Natura 2000 is the protection and support of the living spaces of more than 20 species of protected birds.
Within the borders of the territory signed in the order, the forestation of meadows and pastures, their transformation into agriculture lands and perennial plants, the usage of pesticides and fertilizers, as well as the correction of the area of forest situated near rivers from local tree species is forbidden.
