Comment: We have just returned from visiting Bulgaria for the first time and we had a fantastic time. The hotel Gardia was excellent and I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking to visit the Golden Sands area of Bulgaria. The hotel itself is a 5 minute drive from the buzz of Golden sands itself so if your looking for a peaceful location that has easy access to the nightlife if desired then this is the perfect hotel. The staff were absolutely brilliant, and did everything to make our stay memorable.....A big thanks to Naz the barman who took great care of us when we were there. The beach, which you can access by a chair lift at the rear of the hotel (approx 30p) is spotless and the water was clear and inviting. The hotel has reserved parasol's for its guests. We found fabulous restaruants when we were there, and would like to recommend to anyone visiting this area to go to the "Classic Restaurant", which served outstanding quality food at an unbelievably cheap price. We ended up visiting there over 7 times during our stay. The average cost of an exquisite 3 course meal for 4 adults with drinks was around £20.00. Beer prices - Zagorka (bulgarian beer) and very good was 25p a pint, and a 500ml bottle of Stella was around 50p. For any ladies out their who like champagne...the Bulgarian Champagne was very good and cost a mere £2.50 a bottle........you really cannot spend your money here

Comment: It was our first trip to Bulgaria (Aug04) and we really enjoyed Golden Sands and the Bulgarian people however the hotel was not up to scratch. We made numerous Bulgarian friends they are lovely people. Yes admittedly we couldn't complain too much as we had gone allocation on arrival for a reasonable price however the hotel needs an overhaul. The toilet constantly leaked, the bed linen was damp and the carpet had numerous iron marks. Our balcony was at the back of the hotel and just underneath there were some very unsightly looking oil drums that had been dumped, what was contained in them we didnt ask. But after all said and done we have booked to return this Aug(05) to stay at the Aphrodita. What a fab hotel this is. We checked it out when we were there and am really excited to be staying there. Would recommend Bulgaria to anyone however beware of what hotel you stay in.
