TARGOVISHTE - Bulgaria » The town of Targovishte is situated in the scenic Danube plain, on the banks of Vrana river, at the southern foot of the Preslavska mountain. It is 339 km northwest of Sofia, 110 km west of Varna and 100 km southeast of Rousse. Targovishte is a regional and municipal centre and offers many opportunities for spa, hunting and eco tourism. Some of the attractions of the town are the Varosha quarter with many interesting architectural buildings, among which St Sedmochislenitsi school (1851), Nikola Marinov Art Gallery, the historical museum. The Leso Park is just 7 km away from the town and Targovishte mineral spring is 8 km in southwest direction featuring an open-air swimming pool, prophylactics and a hotel. The province of Targovishte is one of the largest wine-producing regions in Bulgaria.
