SHIPKA - Bulgaria » The town of Shipka is located in the Central Balkan Range, near Shipka pass. It is 205 km from Sofia and 20 km from Kazanlak. Most visitors head for three major destinations around Shipka: Shipka Memorial of Freedom on Mt Stoletov, Shipka Monastery and the Russian Shipka Memorial Church with its gold domes, Buzludzha Monument on Mt Buzludzha where Hadzhi Dimitar met his death. A local specialty sold at the pass is the buffalo-milk yoghurt.
