POMORIE - Black Sea coast, Bulgaria » The town of Pomorie is a famous sea and balneological resort. It is situated on a narrow peninsula between the Black Sea and the Pomorie Lake, 20 km north of Bourgas and 18 km south of Nessebar and Sunny Beach. Bourgas International airport is only 8 km away. Pomorie is famous for its lovely 6 km long sandy beaches and the curative mud treatments. The mud extracted from the salty lake ranks among the best in the world. The Pomorie Bay offers excellent conditions for sailing and yachting. Pomorie is also a famous Bulgarian salt-producing and wine-producing region. Interesting places to visit are the preserved Transfiguration Church and the Assumption Church, St Georgi the Victorious Monastery, the ancient Thracian Domed Tomb in the area of Kuhata Mogila, the village of Sarafovo.
