DOSPAT - Bulgaria » The town of Dospat is situated on the southern side of Dospat Lake, in the southeastern parts of the Rhodope mountains, close to the border with Greece, 200 km from Sofia. Dospat Lake is the second biggest artificial lake in Bulgaria (22 km of water area) and the highest one in the country (1200 m above the sea level). The lake offers good opportunities for rest and water sports. The town has beautiful nature surroundings - forests, meadows, gorges, caves, scenic highland villages. From Dospat you can head north on a trip to Batak or west to Dolen, Kovachevitsa and Gotse Delchev.
