SAPAREVA BANYA - SPA Resort, Bulgaria » The town of Sapareva Banya is situated in the foothills of northwestern Rila mountain, 15 km northeast of Dupnitsa. Close to the town are the Seven Rila Lakes, the Skakavitsa reserve and waterfall, the scenic villages of Saparevo, Resilovo, Ovchartsi, the mountain resort of Panichishte and Rila National Park. An interesting sight to visit is St Nikola Church from the 12th century. Sapareva Banya is a balneological resort famous for its healing mineral springs, especially for the hottest mineral spring in Bulgaria and Europe (103C) and the only active geyser on the Balkan Peninsula which are located here.
