RAKOVSKI - Bulgaria » The town of Rakovski is situated in southern Bulgaria, 25 km north of Plovdiv. The municipality is a member of the Foundation of the European Carnival Cities. Some of the festivals held here are: Kukove, Trifon Zarezan and the White Stork Festival. The first industrial zone in Bulgaria - Rakovski Industrial Zone - offers good business conditions for local and international investors. Rakovski is the largest Catholic town in Bulgaria. The Sacred Heart Church is the second largest Catholic church in the Balkans. The town fetures ruins of Roman times as well as traces of Neolithic settlement. The famous St Iliya Church from 1879 is 15 km southwest of Rakovski in the village of Skutare.
