Comment: hotel clean n most staff friendly, apart from the blonde receptionist, ignorant cow!. Pool area v nice n we met loads of lovely people, (hi 2 aron n family if u read this!). Beware tho, if u want a sun lounger b down b4 8am, n if u want a prime spot, b down at 7!
No air con! which is not nice in 40+ degree heat! found out  2 days b4 we left that there is air con in the hotel n if u ask 2 b moved, they usually will, but u have 2 pay 4 the air con.The hotel did get noisy at night, depending on ur neighbours.  We went half board, (BIG mistake!)  The hotel, and prob all the other hotels, do not cater 4 the English. If  u like cheese, ham, coleslaw and even chocolate biscuits 4 ur breakfast, u will b fine. We had 1 meal n 1 breakfast in the hotel then ate out every day.
We can recomend a great place, its called Poco Loco, there is entertainment delivered 2 u by the waiting on staff which is really good! especially the breakdancers! 2 find the place, go right down party st till u reach the Admiral hotel then carry on walking paralell past it n u will c it on ur left, there r 2 Poco Loco's which serve the same food, but this is the best n its the 1 with the stage inside. Golden sands itself is great, loads 2 do 4 familys n couples alike, Theres a mini Effle tower with a resteraunt inside it, a ferris wheel,  a mini train that ferries u around 4 next 2 nothing, quad bikes on the beach, baby bungee's and plenty more.
On 2 the prostitutes! Well 2 b honest i dont no wot the fuss is about? Ok they r there but not in ur face, i had 2 look hard 2 spot them and did'nt c them bothering anybody.
Overall we loved it n will go bak 2 golden sand's, but not necessarily 2 the Pliska.

Comment: Just spent 11 days @ the Pliska, Golden Sands.... ( Sept 2006 )We had a great time, we went to chill out after a long summer. The pool area was well looked after by Boris the lifeguard and George the barmen both of them made the sunbathing a very pleasant exercise.
Tip a) get your coke from the little supermarket up the road MUCH cheaper than the bar. Also the spirits VERY CHEAP.. Tip b) get your glasses of ICE from George @ the Bar. BEWARE of the Wasps, they think they have the right to share your food and suntan lotion...... Breakfast time is interesting a very wide choice of hams, cheese, bread, rolls. croissants, frozen butter (not nice) potato salad, fruit, pasteries various, yougurt, cornflakes, scrambled egg. sausages ( NOT NICE ),tea, coffee, juice, the milk they give out is powdered and HORRIBLE, the way round it is to try and get your hands on the creamers but some of the staff guard them with there lives.. The alternative is "The Full English" @ the Lion Bar 9Levs (Ј3.00) is OK but there sausages are still Dodgy. Lunch, the restaurant offer a good menu @ very good prices. Dinner, we were on a set menu, which to be fair wasn't that great but you can still hit the menu which is cheap and the food is good. Mitkov is the restaurant manager he keeps it very well. Our waiter was Nayden a funny guy who works day and night he made Dinner time a pleasure. The resort was very pleasant there are lots of places to eat outside by the end of the stay they were getting annoying as everywhere you walked menu's were shoved in your faces !! STAY Away from Angels we got ripped off there BIG time, Lobster salad, more like Crab stick salad and we know theres not even Crab in that. Whole experience was upsetting !! Hotel Rooms, NO kettle Arrrgh. Very basic but if I was there for a lovely room we would have done a 5 star. Deal Or No Deal in Bulgarian was very funny. PS take your own wet wipes the toilet paper is not too clever.. Overall, "The Hotel Pliska" is what it says on the tin a *** hotel. It was very clean and the staff were great ( except the receptionist )It was fun and enjoyed it very much. we went in September the weather was lovely and there were NO kids running around........ Darren & Sally ( England ) The End.....

Comment: I have been to bulgaria twice now same hotel same time of year (august). And it was sooo nice. the staff there are great micheal and little micheal and ross who are the outside bar staff are the best. the rooms are comfortable and basic. i have stayed in a family room and a single room and both have been great. the hotel is very clean and tidy. the second time i stayed in the hotel i found a stray cat on my floor (7) and told micheal the bar staff who phoned another man to come and remove the cat from the hotel. he was very pleasant and delt with the situation quickly and conviniently. the thing that shocked me was the amount of prostitutes on the streets at night. the literally phyiscally were grabbing men by the arm and pulling them. infact my dad got harrased by one who decided to pull him to a side and asked him to come with her. there was one member of staff (female) who flirted with the men and young boys. she even took a picture of up her skirt for one of them which i thought was abit prostituteish. i loved the clothes bargins and shops there , we have decided to go back to hotel pliska next year as we enjoyed it soo much.

Comment: Just arrived back from two weeks at the Pliska. I have to say when we first arrived we where very happy to have been allocated there (Allocation on arrival). The pool was lovely, indoor pool with sauna and massage etc.. and everything was lovely and clean. Our room was basic but what more do you want. It was our first time in Bulgaria and the first thing that shocked me was how blatant the prostitutes are. I have been to many places in the world and I have never seen anything so bad in my whole life. They where physically groping men in the street. This goes for other people that I spoke to in the resort who where just as shocked. The sad thing being they where all very young some as young as 14/15. The strange thing we noticed straight away about the resort is the groups of middle aged and older German men. After two day's, and realising how big the sex trade is in the resort, it did not take a rocket scientist to work out why all these groups of old german men where there. That's when our problems started with the Pliska. It is a multi national hotel. But I dont know whether it was the time of year or what, but it was mostly german (MEN). Who spent most of the day shouting and singing whilst drunk around the pool. So much so, that families with children felt uncomfortable and took them to neighbouring pool's or to the beach. And at night they spent most of the time shouting and singing whilst drunk as well. This is when we realised that the pliska was being used as a brothel at night. The prostitutes are able to pay for a room by the hour or twenty minutes as most of them used. They walked into reception, paid the fee and a maid is on hand 24 hours who, then goes in after them and cleans the room. It was more disturbing than anything else. Because it was mostly the german men who where going with them. And it would not be wrong to say some of them would have had granddaughters older than these poor girls. As a result, this ruined our time at the pliska. We and some others refused to use the pool (You didnt know what you might have caught from it) and I later found out. That the waitresses also provided services much cheaper than the working girls on the streets. All in all Golden Sands would have been nice, if the prostitutes where controlled. (let's face it they are everywhere in the world- but if they where kept to properly run establishments it would have been better). Sunny Beach as a result was more suitable for families (we hired a car and spent two days and a night there) Even though it is not advertised that way. There are no prostitutes roaming the streets. I would certainly recommend the Pliska if you are single, German and over 50 and looking for cheap sex. We will go back to Bulgaria to Nessebar as the people are lovely and the countryside is beautiful. But we will never go to Golden Sands again and would not recommend the pliska to anyone. Also, the cockroaches in the room made for a few sleepless nights. I hope this does not put you off Bulgaria. But I think advertising Golden Sands as a family resort is anything but true, and very unfair to people who ended up in our hotel through choice rather than being allocated as we where.

Comment: Just arrived back from another 2 weeks at the Pliska in Golden Sands. What a difference 2 years can make. New hotels built around the Pliska - very smart - also the Pliska has had an extension built onto the side so no more walking up 4 flights of stairs. the rooms are still basic but cleaned every day by our very friendly cleaner. The bar and food staff were really lovely and they have learnt a lot of English in the last two years. Plammi (female) and Mitko (male) are the best two. The resort has so many more shops than before offering a lot more choice - excellent bargains to be had. The bars and restraunts have all had a face lift and still serve v v v nice food and the lager although it is local is palatable. One point - we did go near to the end of the season and the weather changed at night - it got quite cold near the end of the two weeks once 6pm came. The shops do reduce a lot of stuff from September so better bargains can be had but again the weather can be unpredictable. All in all another fab two weeks have been had - we will go back before they go into the Euro in 2007. We arrived back on September 10th and friends stayed for another week. They said the days were sunny and warm but it did get v v cold at night.

Comment: just returned from golden sands ,had a good time there. the hotel pliska is clean and tidy and all the staff are friendly, if you are going to book a family room here like we did (i also booked a single 1 too) this room is one large room with 1 double bed and 1 double sofa bed you are better booking 2 adjoining rooms instead. the resort it's self is good you can use any pool in any hotel, we used the ambassador hotel as this is large and not crowded.on the beach you can hire sun beds and umbrellas very cheap . for snacks on the beach a burger or kebab and a bottle of pop (fanta pepsi normal u.k size ) 5 lev (5.4 lev is £2) eating out is cheap at night. mamma mia's is the place to go . go see alibaba and sinbad 2 funny guys who will make your meal even more enjoyable.there are 2 sides to the place as you look at it it's the left hand side.3 course meal for 5 around £45 including drinks. and this is expensive to other places about £25- £30 normally but well worth it.
went to nessebar shopping is cheaper there just shops upon shops. good copy items nike shox trainers 50 lev ,tops nike ,puma ,f 1 racing, diesel,35 lev. all in all a very good holiday kids loved it cheap game boy advance games 18-28 lev, ice creams 1 lev you can not go wrong for a cheap holiday . friendly people who are very helpful and always smiling to say alot of them are on 1 lev an hour .had a great time. don't take any notice of people who say its dirt and unwelcoming it's not . The pliska has now got a lift to floor 4 and another one from 4-9
