The town of Koprivshtitsa is nestled in the wooded hills of Sredna Gora mountain, between Karlovo and Sofia. Koprivshtitsa is a unique museum-village, with more than 400 protected buildings of architectural and historical significance, which charming cobblestone streets and bridges will take you back to the Bulgarian National Revival period. Considering the town’s importance as a tourist destination, it is rather poorly served by public transport though, with no taxis and the train station some 9 km away from the town itself. So the best transportation option to get to this giant open-air museum from Sofia airport is by a private transfer which takes a little more than one hour and a half. Koprivshtitsa is 125 km northwest of Plovdiv and if you choose to travel in the most convenient way – by a private taxi, it will take two hours to transfer you to the picturesque town from Plovdiv and its airport.
