The famous historic and cultural center – Kazanlak, is situated in central Bulgaria, in the beautiful Valley of Roses, at the south foot of the Balkan Range. Kazanlak is 205 km eastbound from Sofia international airport, 75 km west of Sliven, 35 km northwest of Stara Zagora and approximately 320 km westbound from Bourgas international airport. Nowadays Kazanlak is the capital of the rose-growing region, but once the town was the major center of the sacred Valley of the Thracian Kings and Kazanlak’s vicinity is studded with countless ancient burial mounds, 1500 necropoli, including the magnificent Kazanlak tomb, dated back to the 4th century BC and declared a Unesco World Heritage site. Kazanlak is the jumping-off point for access to northern Bulgaria via Shipka pass, one of the most spectacular cross-mountain roads in Bulgaria. The transfer from Sofia airport to Kazanlak takes approximately three hours, while to Bourgas airport at the south Black Sea coast, the transfer time is two hours and a half.
