BANSKO SKI HOLIDAYS

Bansko is the newest ski resort in Bulgaria. Rapidly developing Bansko is located at 925 m above sea level between Pirin, Rila and the Rhodopes mountains, nestled in the shadow of ice-caped Mt Vihren, the highest peak in Pirin. It provides a superb combination of the virgin mountain nature and the atmosphere of the ancient Bulgarian small town. An enchanting historical spot, Bansko itself attracts visitors by its 120 cultural monuments, its museums and the permanent ethnographic exhibitions. In addition, there are plenty of HOTELS IN BANSKO with excellent holiday and SPA facilities. Skiing is practised around Bansko from December until March with abundant snow falls, providing a constant winter snow-cover up to 2m thick. Pirin mountains have a predominantly Alpine character with 2 peaks towering above 2900 m and though all grades are catered for, Bansko is the best resort in Bulgaria for advanced skiers. Instructors speak various foreign languages and there is a range of equipment for hire. There are 14 km of ski runs with 7 lifts with the longest ski run of 2.5 km, and two practice slopes with ski-tows. A new lift and a run equipped for night skiing has been lunched in season 2003.

PAMPOROVO SKI HOLIDAYS

Pamporovo is a modern ski resort in the heart of the Rhodope mountains, the home of the mythical singer Orpheus. Pamporovo is situated at 1650 m above the sea level at the foot of peak Snejanka (1926 m), 240 km southeast of Sofia and 85 km south of Plovdiv. Most of the HOTELS IN PAMPOROVO are of a high standard and offer all the necessary spa and skiing facilities. Pamporovo is the most southern ski resort in Europe and the sunniest high mountain resort in Bulgaria with about 120 sunny days during the skiing period. The average annual temperature in Pamporovo is 8.5°C; and its blanket of snow in winter is between 140 and 150 cm. The mild weather and excellent snow-cover make skiing conditions perfect from mid-December to mid-April, with a range of classes and pistes to suit everyone from absolute beginners to the pros. Pamporovo, resort is particularly suitable for beginners. There are also difficult ski runs like the Giant Slalom run which is an excellent exercise for every skiing expert. As a whole, you can enjoy 17,5 kilometers of Alpine ski runs, 34 ski runs for long distance skiing, equipped with 6 different seat chair lifts and 13 ski drags.

BOROVETS SKI RESORT

Borovets is the oldest and the biggest mountain resort in Bulgaria where skiers can experience the thrill of a whole range of winter sports. Borovets is situated in Rila mountains at 1350 m altitude above sea level among the aromatic pine woods covering the northern slopes of Mt Musala, the highest on the Balkan peninsula. You can find from reasonably priced to luxury HOTELS IN BOROVETS and of course plenty of ski rental facilities. The official skiing season in Borovets lasts from mid-December to mid-April with the most reliable snow-cover in late February and early March. The ski runs of various difficulty are differentiated for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers and equipped with international markings and multilingual signs. The runs are bashed and maintained to the highest standards. Good instruction is available for both skiing and snowboarding. Ski kindergarten provides whole day care for 3-7 year-olds. There is a ski rental service next to each lift station.
