RAZLOG - Bulgaria » The town of Razlog is located in the western part of the Razlog valley at the foot of northeast Pirin mountain, surrounded by the Pirin, Rila and the Rhodope mountains. It is situated 825 m above the sea level, 6 km north of Bansko, 54 km south of Blagoevgrad, 141 km southwest of Plovdiv and 155 km south of Sofia. The most interesting monuments of culture and history in Razlog are 41 preserved houses from the Bulgarian Renaissance period. The Parapaunov's House functions as a museum of history. The Kiprev's House Ethnographic Museum Complex exhibits folk costumes and old crafts of the region. Other places to visit are St George Church and the Holy Annunciation Church, the water-mill at Yazo river, the workshops of weavers, knitters and creative artists. Razlog is a starting point to many hiking tours: Iztoka and Kroushe protected areas with mineral water springs and medieval ruins; Mechata Dupka and Propadnalo caves; Stolovatets area with ruins of Thracian sanctuary. The village of Dobarsko is 18 km to the south. Close to the town is the famous Katarino Spa Complex with its warm mineral water and Pirin Golf and County Club.
