HIKING IN RILA MOUNTAINS

Rila mountain seems to be a piece of the Alps thrown into the heart of the Balkans with its 130 Alpine peaks above 2000m, glacial valleys and lakes. The snow cover on the parts of average altitude and the Alpine parts often exceeds 2m. Eastern Rila is the highest part of the mountain where one can visit Rila's highest mount-Moussala (2925m) and the 10 top peaks, and the highest lake in Rila-the Glacial lake (2709m).

Northwestern Rila is the home to some of the symbols of Bulgarian alpinism and mountaineering-Malyovitsa and Kupenite peaks, and the biggest and significant lake groups, the most famous and scenic of all - the 7 Rila lakes. Many marked tourist hiking trails and high-mountain rock climbing tours originate from here.

Itinerary: Suggested itinerary below can be adjusted - shortened, extended and modified according to your plans, skills or flight date. If you feel tired on your hiking tour a day or two of your schedule can be replaced on site with visit to places of interest, cultural and historical tours.

Day1: Transfer to Village of Govedartsi . If time allows short hike above the village.

Day2: Village of Govedartsi - Maliovitsa hut - Mt Maliovitsa - Village of Govedartsi

Day3: Village of Govedartsi - Vada hut - Seven Rila lakes - Vada hut - Village of Govedartsi

Day4: Village of Govedartsi - Borovets - Mt Musala - Borovets - Vilage of Govedartsi

Day5: Visit places of interest. Transfer: Village of Govedartsi - Sofia Airport.
 

Tour dates:  5 days/4 nights scheduled at your convenience from May to October

Tour quota: Minimum 2 hikers.

Hiking duration: 5 - 7 hours per day

Accommodations:   stars hotel in Village of Govedartsi.

Food arrangements: All breakfasts are included in the tour package. Lunch and dinner can be arranged upon request. All meals include traditional Bulgarian food, which is not much different from the European cuisine. All lunch meals if ordered are "to go".

  • A competent guide / driver

  • Transfer Sofia airport - Village of Govedartsi - Sofia airport

  • Everyday transfer to/from the hike start-point
  • All fuel expenses during the tour
  • 4 night stays in three star hotel in Govedartsi.
  • 4 breakfasts
  • Detailed route map of Rila mountains

    • Prices: Two adults: 735 EURO total package price
               (share double room)

               Family of 2 adults + 2 children under 10 years old: 790 EURO total package price
               (share large 2 bedroom with 2 extra beds or three bedroom)

               Family/Group of 3 adults: 790 EURO total package price
               (share three bedroom)

               Group 4-8 adults: 350 EURO per person.
               (    share double room)

    Discount specials: Participants taking part in two hiking tours (Example: Pirin and Rila mountains) in one calendar year are eligible for 10% discount on the tour price.
